The idea of Mixtapes.TV is over 3 years old, back in 2007 after building now one of the most popular Hip Hop websites on the web. The Covenant Media wanted to create a sister site that would help to further promote urban music but at the time we didn’t have the technology or the resources to build the website the way we wanted it. The site first started with the name MixtapeCast.com then went on to MixtapePlayer.com to finally Mixtapes.tv, I mean it doesn’t get much better than Mixtapes.tv. There isn’t a shortage of mixtape websites across the web where you can download mixtapes for free but that wasn’t our goal.
What we’ve built is a full fledge mixtape community that gives artists, DJs and fans the ability interact with mixtapes the way you would with a social network like Facebook or a video sharing site like YouTube, from uploading, downloading, sharing, commenting, to rating mixtapes and even creating custom playlists of tracks you like from different mixtapes and this is just the beginning of what this site will become.
Remember when you used to go to your barbershop or your local bootlegger (lol) to get the latest mixtapes of your favorite artists that you just won’t find on the radio or TV? Well, that’s exactly what we’ve created for the web. The mixtape industry is now bigger than ever, throughout the years even with the evolution of the web and social media mixtapes still continue to be the number one promotion tool for urban artists. It gave birth to superstars like 50 Cent and new stars like Drake, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj and much more.
Mixtape.tv aims to become the premier source for official mixtapes, videos, news related to urban media entertainment, to help continue the growth of urban music and artist promotion.
